Guided Fixes publishes clear, step-by-step guides for setting up and fixing computers, phones and connected devices. It is written for everyday users, including people who do not think of themselves as technical.

Who this site is for

This site is for people who use a computer or phone at home and want calm, plain instructions. Some readers feel nervous about technology. Others are confident and want a quick checklist. We write for both: short sentences, a short explanation of each technical term, and no pressure.

What we publish

Guides are grouped by topic. Each topic has its own page.

  • Windows: install, set up and fix every version of Windows, from Windows 1.0 to Windows 11.
  • PC Troubleshooting: a PC that is slow, frozen, crashing or will not start, with fixes in a sensible order.
  • Mac: fixes and how-tos for MacBook, iMac and Mac mini.
  • Chromebook: set up, update, connect and troubleshoot your Chromebook, including apps and printers.
  • Wi-Fi and Internet: dropped connections, slow speeds, "connected, no internet" and router setup.
  • Bluetooth: pair headphones, speakers, keyboards and cars, and fix devices that will not connect.
  • Printers and Scanners: set up printers, clear jams and offline errors, improve print quality and scan to your computer.
  • Audio, Displays and Accessories: speakers, microphones, webcams, monitors, USB drives, keyboards, mice and controllers.
  • Phones and Tablets: connect an Android phone or iPhone to Wi-Fi, mobile data, your car and your computer.
  • Software Installation: install, update and remove software safely on Windows, Mac and Chromebook.
  • Online Safety and Scams: spot tech support scams and fake pop-ups, protect your accounts and download safely.

You can also browse every guide on the guides page. Each guide says which versions it covers, how hard it is and how long it takes. Many guides include labeled diagrams, and every diagram has a text version.

What we do not do

  • We do not offer phone, chat or remote support, and we cannot diagnose your device from a message.
  • We do not repair devices.
  • We do not sell software or host software downloads.
  • We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not show ads.
  • We never ask for remote access to your computer, for payments or for passwords.

How guides are made

Guides are researched from official documentation and reputable references. They are drafted with AI assistance, checked against the sources before publishing, dated, and corrected when readers report errors. The Editorial Policy has the full process and the list of advice we will not give.

Ratings and reviews

Every guide has a star rating box. Ratings are anonymous and come from visitors. They are not expert reviews. The Ratings and Reviews Policy explains how they work.
