Cookie Policy
How this site uses cookies and your browser's local storage, what the optional Google features may add, and how to control them.
This site does not set cookies of its own. It keeps up to three small items in your browser's local storage. Two optional Google features can be switched on by the site operator, and this page explains what they may add.
Cookies and local storage in plain words
A cookie is a small file that a website asks your browser to keep. The browser sends it back to the website on later visits. Local storage is similar storage inside your browser, but your browser does not send it to the website automatically. Both stay on your device until they expire or you remove them.
Cookies on this site
The code of this site sets no cookies. It has no accounts, so there are no sign-in cookies. It has no analytics or advertising cookies of its own. The pages and the rating and contact tools do not send cookies to your browser either.
The only cookies you could meet here would come from services outside this site's own code: the optional Google features and a delivery and security service, both described below. They set them, not this site.
Local storage on this site
This site uses your browser's local storage for the three items in the table. Each one is created only when you use the matching feature. All three stay in your browser until you clear this site's data.
| Name | What it holds and why | Sent to the site? |
|---|---|---|
edu.prefs | Your theme (automatic, light or dark) and your text size (step 1, 2 or 3), so the site remembers your display choices. Saved when you change a display setting. | No |
edu.vid | A random anonymous token made by your browser the first time you send a rating. It lets the site recognize your own votes, so each visitor counts once for each guide. | Yes, only when you send a rating. The server saves a scrambled code made from it, not the token. |
edu.rated | A list of the guides you have rated and the stars you gave, so the site can show your own rating when you come back. Saved when you send a rating. | No |
Delivery and security services
Pages and files on this site may be delivered through a content-delivery and security service, such as Cloudflare, that sits in front of the web host. If this site uses one, the service may set its own cookies to protect the site, for example a cookie that helps tell people from automated bots or remembers that you passed a security check. These cookies are set by the service, not by this site's code, and this site does not control them. The service also handles the same technical data as the host: your IP address, browser details and the pages you ask for. Its own privacy policy applies. For Cloudflare, see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. You can remove these cookies in your browser like any other (see "How to control or remove them" below). Blocking them may make security checks appear more often.
Some web hosts also add their own performance-monitoring script to the pages they serve. Such a script is not part of this site's code and this site does not control it. It may use cookies or similar browser storage of its own, and the host's privacy policy applies.
Optional Google features
The site operator can switch on two optional features that use Google. They are off unless the operator turns them on. When a feature is on, a notice about it appears here. If you see no notice for a feature, it is not switched on for this site.
- Google tag. When it is on, Google's code loads in your browser as soon as a page opens. It measures visits and the performance of ads. Google receives your IP address, the pages you view and details of your browser and device, and the tag can set cookies. This site does not control which cookies Google sets or what they are for.
- Google reviews. When they are on, your browser loads Google's Maps JavaScript API as the reviews section scrolls into view. Google receives your IP address, browser details and the website you are on. Google's code may also store or read information on your device, such as cookies or local storage. Google's own policies describe how.
Google explains its use of cookies on its page How Google uses cookies, and its wider practices in its Privacy Policy.
Global Privacy Control
If your browser reports the Global Privacy Control signal to the page, this site does not load the Google tag or Google's Maps code. Your browser then makes no requests to Google for these features, and the Google tag sets no cookies. A browser or extension that sends the signal to servers but does not report it to web pages is not detected, so use a content blocker in that case. Our Privacy Policy explains Global Privacy Control in more detail.
How to control or remove them
- Clear this site's data. In your browser's settings, look for "cookies and site data" or "site data". The wording varies by browser. Clearing the data for this site removes the local storage items above. The site then forgets your display choices and can no longer show which guides you rated. Your earlier ratings stay in each guide's totals.
- Block storage. Your browser can block site data. The site still works, but it will not remember your choices.
- Stop the Google features. Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, or use a content blocker.
Changes and questions
We update this page if the way this site uses cookies or local storage changes. The "last updated" date on this page shows when it last changed. If you have a question, contact us using contact@guidedfixes.com.
