Independence and Trademarks
This site is independent of Microsoft, Apple, Google and device makers. Product names belong to their owners and are used only to identify products.
Guided Fixes is an independent website. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Microsoft, Apple, Google, any device maker or any standards body.
We are independent
We write about Windows, Mac, Chromebook, Android, iPhone, printers, routers and many other products, but we are not part of any company that makes them. No company has approved our guides or paid for them. The Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure explains this further.
Trademarks
Product and company names on this site belong to their owners. We use them only to identify products and to explain how to use them. Using a name does not mean that its owner is connected with us or supports our guides. The pictures and diagrams on this site are generic drawings. They are not official logos or product photos.

We are not official support
We do not provide official support for any product. We have no phone, chat or remote support. For official help, use the support site of the company that made your product, such as Microsoft Support, Apple Support or Google Help.
What we will never do
No remote access, payments or passwords
Guided Fixes will never ask you for remote access to your computer, for a payment or for a password. We will never call you, and we will never message you first to offer help. We reply only to messages you have sent us.
If someone claims to be us, Microsoft or Apple
Be wary if someone contacts you out of the blue and says they are from Guided Fixes, Microsoft, Apple, Google or a "technical support" service. Be wary too if a pop-up or a browser warning tells you to call a number.
- Do not let them connect to your computer.
- Do not pay them, and do not give them passwords or codes.
- Do not call a number from a pop-up. Microsoft states that its error and warning messages never include a phone number. You can read this on Microsoft's page about tech support scams.
Our guides can help:
- How to spot tech support scams
- Fake virus pop-up: what to do
- You gave someone remote access: what to do now
- How to find real support and avoid fake phone numbers
You can find more in the Online Safety and Scams section.
If you see a website, ad or message that uses our name to ask for money or access, please tell us through the contact page.
Product names in the guides
Guides name a product only when the steps need it, such as a maker's app or its official download page. This is not a recommendation or a ranking, and we do not use affiliate links.
