Terms of Use

The rules for using this site, including using the guides at your own risk, acceptable use and the limits of our responsibility.

Last updated

These terms set out the rules for using Guided Fixes. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

Using this site

In these terms, "we" and "us" mean the person or group that runs Guided Fixes. "The site" means this website, at guidedfixes.com, including its guides, pages and tools. You may use the site if you follow these terms and the law.

You can read the guides without an account. Some parts of the site let you rate a guide or send us a message. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you do.

Information only, and use at your own risk

General information

The guides are for informational use only. They are general help for everyday users, not professional advice. Reading them does not create a professional, support or customer relationship between you and us. We cannot see your device, so we cannot know whether a guide fits your situation.

Back up first

Some steps change settings, run commands or erase data. Before you follow a guide, back up any files you cannot afford to lose. Read each step to the end, and stop if your screen does not match the guide.

Your responsibility

You are responsible for what you do with your own devices, accounts and data, and for deciding whether a guide is right for you. If you are unsure, stop and ask the maker of your device or a qualified technician you trust. Our Disclaimer explains the limits of the guides in more detail.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • submit automated, fake or paid-for ratings, rate on behalf of other people, or try to push a guide's average up or down in any other way
  • use the contact form to send spam, advertising, threats, abuse or malware, or to share anyone else's personal information without a right to
  • use bots, scrapers or other automated tools in a way that overloads the site, gets around its limits or harms other visitors
  • try to break into, probe or disrupt the site, its database or its servers
  • pretend to be us, or to be connected with us

Search engines and similar tools that follow the site's robots.txt rules are welcome. If you break these rules, we may block your access, remove your ratings or messages, and report serious abuse to the relevant authorities.

Ratings, feedback and messages you send

You keep ownership of what you send us, such as feedback or contact messages. You give us permission to use it, free of charge, to run and improve the site and its guides. For example, we may use it to correct a guide or to decide what to write next.

This permission is not exclusive, and it does not stop you from using your own words anywhere else. We will not publish your feedback or messages with your name or email address without asking you first.

Star ratings you submit are counted in the average shown for the guide. They are anonymous. Please send only things you have the right to send, and do not include passwords, payment details or other sensitive information. The Ratings and Reviews Policy explains how ratings work.

Our content and how you may use it

The guides, text, diagrams, pictures, page design and code of this site belong to us or to the people who give us permission to use them. The law protects them.

You may read the site, share links to it, and print or save copies of guides for your own personal, non-commercial use. An example is printing a guide to follow while you work on your device. You may quote short extracts if you name Guided Fixes and link back to the page.

Please ask us before you copy whole guides, republish them, sell them or use them for any commercial purpose. Company and product names belong to their owners. See Independence and Trademarks.

Guides link to other websites, mostly the support pages of the companies that make the software and devices we describe. We do not control those sites and we are not responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement. The other site's own terms and privacy policy apply when you visit it.

No warranty and limits on our liability

No warranty

To the extent allowed by law, the site and everything on it are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not promise that the guides are accurate, complete, up to date or suitable for your device or situation. We also do not promise that the site will always be available or free of errors.

Limit on our liability

To the extent allowed by law, we are not responsible for any loss or damage that results from using the site or following a guide. This includes lost data, damage to a device, lost time and lost income. It applies even if we were told that such loss could happen. Nothing in these terms limits any right or responsibility that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you.

Governing law, changes and contact

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws that apply where the operator of this site is based. Some places have consumer protection laws that cannot be changed by agreement. If you live in one, those laws still apply to you, and nothing in these terms takes away your rights under them.

If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If you have a complaint, please contact us first so that we can try to put it right.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The "last updated" date on this page shows when they last changed. If you keep using the site after a change, you accept the updated terms.
